The Opportunity
At Alera Group, our Employee Benefits team helps organizations attract, retain, and support their employees through innovative benefits solutions. As an Accounting Clerk, you'll play an important role in delivering exceptional client service, building trusted relationships, and helping clients navigate the complexities of employee benefits.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Support accounts receivable activities and maintain accurate commission transaction records
Process and balance daily commission transactions within AgencyBloc
Review and classify revenue transactions for proper allocation by subsidiary, general ledger account, class, department, and location
Modify and import carrier commission statements from Excel files into AgencyBloc
Investigate and resolve commission discrepancies, missing payments, and transaction errors
Generate commission reports using AgencyBloc and other reporting tools
Collaborate with internal departments to establish and maintain accurate commission split arrangements
Provide responsive customer service to agents, carriers, and colleagues regarding commission-related inquiries
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Qualifications
High school diploma required; currently pursuing or recently completed coursework in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field preferred
Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail
Ability to handle confidential and time-sensitive information with professionalism
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain accuracy in a high-volume environment
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, Teams, and SharePoint
Ability to quickly learn new software systems and business applications
Preferred Qualifications
Previous internship, coursework, or experience related to accounting, finance, or bookkeeping
Experience working with financial systems, CRM platforms, or reporting tools
Familiarity with AgencyBloc, Tipalti, QuickBooks, Concur, or Adobe Acrobat
Customer service experience in a professional environment
Understanding of accounts receivable processes and basic accounting principles
Compensation
Hourly Range: $20–$22 hourly
