Job Description:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and driven Accounting Manager with 5+ years of progressive accounting experience to oversee daily accounting operations, ensure compliance with financial regulations, and provide leadership within the finance team. The Accounting Manager will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, managing month-end close processes, and supporting strategic decision-making. LOCAL CANDIDATES ONLY. THIS POSITION IS LOCATED ON-SITE IN HERNDON, VA.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger.

• Manage the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close process to ensure timely and accurate reporting.

• Prepare and review financial statements, reconciliations, and supporting schedules in accordance with GAAP.

• Monitor and maintain internal controls, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance and safeguard company assets.

• Coordinate with external auditors and manage audit processes.

• Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis in partnership with leadership.

• Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff, providing guidance and performance feedback.

• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax filings and reporting requirements.

• Assist in identifying and implementing process improvements to increase efficiency within the finance function.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance.

• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience (public accounting or corporate accounting), including managerial experience.

• Solid knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.

• Experience with ERP/accounting software (e.g., NetSuite, QuickBooks, SAP, or similar).

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office tools.

• Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally.

Compensation
